Mindfulness will be new to my organization, how do you deal with skeptics?
I welcome skeptics! The SIY program starts with an introduction to mindfulness and some of the science behind it, so the program works well for people that are new. I have people practice a few different mindfulness practices to get a sense of their own personal experience and see what works best for them. It’s great to have skeptics ask questions so that we can discuss what concerns they might have. My only caveat is that I recommend that people opt into the SIY program, rather than being required to attend.
We don’t have time for a 2-day program, can this be offered in a shorter format?

Although I do have shorter  version of the SIY program available (there is a 1-day, half-day and keynote format), my strong preference is that my clients make the time needed to attend and complete the full 2-day SIY program and 28-day challenge. It’s common to hear that, ‘Our team is just too busy to take off 2 days for a training’, or ‘We just don’t have that much time.’ Is this true? At SIYLI, we believe that we choose how to spend our time based on our priorities.

If your priority is to help your employees manage their stress or to improve their communication and collaboration abilities or feel more well-being in their lives, this will take time and practice. We’ve seen that a mindset of ‘we’re too busy’, which is quite common and understandable, only perpetuates the dynamics that may have inspired a client to consider the SIY program in the first place. When organizations make time for this type of personal and professional development, it sends an important message to their employees that they prioritize and encourage the expression of emotional intelligence within the organization.

I also emphasize that the 2-day program is the full version of the program and goes into more depth and practice than the shorter versions. The half-day and keynote are intended as introductions to the topics of mindfulness and emotional intelligence, not as a replacement for the full 2-day SIY program. Also note that all of the data collected about the impact of the SIY program is collected from the 2-day version, so I cannot speak to the impact of the shorter program versions. There are certainly times with a shorter program is ideal, especially when a keynote or half-day is an introduction to the topics to see if there is more interest in additional programs, or when incorporated into a conference or team off-site.

What is the ideal class size?
For the 2-day SIY program within companies, I recommend a class size of about 50 people, but a range of 20-80 participants can work well. With fewer than 20, the experience can feel too intimate or high-pressured, and with too large a group it can feel too anonymous and be hard to have any individual questions or concerns answers. That said, I have worked with smaller groups when it’s a team that works together (e.g. an executive team of 11 people), and with larger groups (up to ~100 for in-company programs).
What is the right target audience for an SIY program?

This depends on your needs and interests. The SIY program has worked well for a variety of audiences:

  • Leaders: SIY is a leadership program and works very well for executive teams and senior leaders. For some clients, the SIY program has been integrated into a year-long senior leadership training.
  • Teams/ Divisions: the SIY program can be offered to a specific team or rolled out within a business unit or division of a company. Because the program creates a sense of connection and community over the two days, it can be a powerful program to share with teammates. You can take time at the end for discussion and brainstorming of if/how the team wants to carry on what they learned as new practices or team norms.
  • Anyone/ Open-Enrollment: SIY started as an open-enrollment program at Google and has been successful there and in other companies. The program is open to anyone that wants to take it and draws a cross-section of participants from throughout the organization.
  • New managers: This transition into management requires people to increase their self-awareness and their ability to understand and work with others, so the SIY program is powerful as a training program for new managers.
  • Recent graduates: I’ve also offered the SIY program to recent graduates (e.g. as part of a post-college rotational program within an organization). It’s great to give recent grads a time for reflection and to build fundamental EQ skills early in their career.

For any audience, a piece of feedback I frequently receive from participants is that they feel really cared for by their employer since the SIY program addresses them as a full-person.

If you are looking for deeper organizational change or culture improvement, then starting at a senior level tends to work best since the tone for an organization is set at the top.

Can the 2-day be offered as half-day modules?

Yes! The 2-day program can be offered as two 1-days, 4 half-days or 8 short sessions. I do recommend that the sessions are not spaced too far apart– one week up to one month apart is ideal. If too much time lapses in-between sessions, it is hard to maintain momentum for the program and participants forget what they learned in the previous sessions.

Has there been an SIY program in my industry/country? What was the feedback?
SIY has been taught in a wide variety of industries and in many, many countries around the world and the program seems to work quite universally! I always try to tailor the language and examples of a program to meet the needs of a particular organization and tie the SIY content to what the participants are experiencing in their day-to-day life. I do strongly recommend that participants get to opt into the program, rather than being told that they need to attend. A short program (like a keynote or half-day program) can be a required part of a larger event because it is more of an introduction to the topics, but the full 2-day program should be held for participants that chose to participate. Industries that SIYLI has worked with include: technology, manufacturing, healthcare, consulting firms, banks/financial institutions, large and small nonprofits, schools (teachers and staff) and universities (facility, staff and students) to name a few!
Can the SIY program be taught virtually?
Yes! All programs can be taught live on Zoom or in person.
This program is very personal. How does it land in the workplace? How do you handle sensitive issues that come up?

SIY is designed to provide leaders with training based in mindfulness and emotional intelligence. This work improves focus, empathy and resilience – all of which are domains that can be deeply meaningful to both our professional and personal lives.

With this in mind, when I offer the program within organizations, I make sure to frame and tailor the activities in a way that is safe for participants. As a facilitator, I’m aware of the multi-faceted relationships that can exist within work spaces, and I will actively build in frameworks to create a comfortable environment where participants feel safe to learn, take space when needed and dive deeper into topics when they feel comfortable.
In a work environment, what is personal to share will naturally have different boundaries and participants are free to share as much or as little as they would like.

FAQ’s Improve your personal life

Have questions about Pure Bliss ?

What is the difference between Pure Bliss and Life Coaching ?
Traditional life coaching uses a standard toolkit of coaching techniques to help you reach your goal whereas Pure Bliss combines therapy and coaching for a deeper experience. It helps overcome any mental blocks that are standing in the way of your progress.
What Is transformational coaching Pure Bliss used for ?
Like any coaching techniques, Pure BLiss can be used in many areas: build confidence and self-esteem, stop procrastination, improve your relationships, heal your relationship with food, eradicate your fear of public speaking, and help you sleep better. Pure Bliss gets to the root of your limiting beliefs and reframes them to help you create a new reality.
How long will my session last ?
Each transformational Pure Bliss coaching session will be 60 minutes. Alice will decide during your time together if and when you need private hypnotherapy , in which case the private hypnotherapy session will be between 90 and 120 minutes.
Is an online session as effective as in-person session?
Yes! Actually many people report feeling even more open and relaxed when having a session at home. Working globally even before the global pandemic, I have always done on-line sessions via zoom. Don’t worry if you are not familiar, I will explain everything to you. It is very easy!

Have questions about Hypnotherapy?

How do I book my first session ?
After you’ve purchased your session, you will be taken to a calendar to book your first session.
How long is a session?
Each session of private hypnotherapy is scheduled for 90 minutes. It’s best to allow a bit of time either side of the session so you don’t feel rushed.
How does it work ?
Hypnosis is not magic – it’s science! It works by creating a burst of brain waves that are the same as when you’re in REM. That’s what allows you to access the subconscious mind. It’s very easy and anyone can do it.
Can I get “stuck” in hypnosis ?
No! That’s an old wive’s tale. You have complete control the whole time. You can talk, move your body, get a tissue, even get up and go to the washrooms. If our call gets disconnected you may drift into sleep if you’re really relaxed, but eventually you’ll notice that you’re not hearing my voice and open your eyes.
Do you record sessions?
The only part of some sessions that is recorded is the 15- 20 minute personalized transformational recording. This is done under hypnosis and you will be asked to listen to it for 21 consecutive days after your session. It will be sent to you via email or whatsapp right after your session. Please make sure to keep your recording safe as I don’t keep any copy.
How do I prepare for my on-line session ?

Sessions are just as effective through Zoom as it is working face to face. The only subtle difference is that I won’t be able to touch you. That’s it!
Here are few tips:

  • Just make sure you are close to your router and have a good WIFI signal.
  • Remember to turn off your mobile/ landline phone(s) or any applications on your computer that may go off during the session ( some computers have a “do not disturb” option for this purpose).
  • Check that you are not expecting any deliveries during the session or somebody else is available at home.
  • Switch on the light in case the room you are sitting in becomes dark during the session especially as we might be on different time zones.
  • Kindly adjust your webcam on your computer so I can see you. It is important for a private hypnotherapy session that I can see your face, torso and arms .
  • Plug your computer so the battery doesn not run out
  • Make sure you are in a quiet place where you won’t be distrubed by pets, children, your partner, a roommate etc….
  • Remember to go to the bathroom before your session begins
When will I start to see changes?
Some changes may be immediate, others incremental (where you see changes over days, weeks, months.) Some people don’t realise the full extent of the change until they look back retrospectively a while later, or someone else points it out to them.
How many sessions do you recommend ?

Everyone is different and all issues are approached with a tailor made solution to best fit client’ needs.

A Survey of Psychotherapy Literature by Alfred A. Barrios, PhD., which was later reprinted in American Health Magazine, revealed the following recovery rates:

  • Psychoanalysis: 38% recovery after 600 sessions
  • Behavior Therapy: 72% recovery after 22 sessions
  • Hypnotherapy: 93% recovery after 6 sessions

While the average presented in this study was 6 sessions for 93% recovery, I have found that most of my clients have experienced a significant shift in less than 5 sessions.
As examples, one of my clients got free of nail biting in just 3 sessions, another one stopped smoking in 4 sessions. And a beautiful young mother got rid of her uncontrollable rage in just 1 session !

Some topics such as weight loss require more sessions than others. Our relationship with food is mainly emotional. A client after 12 sessions realised she was free from her sugar addiction and didn’t fancy any more unhealthy processed chocolate barres. Her relationship with her mother was healed and so her relationship with food. She decided to continue working with me and now after 20 sessions (in total) she is flying on her own with a healthy relationship with food and alcohol , regular physical activity and she even confessed she enjoys going to bootcamps !

Do phone sessions really work?
Yes! and it can work even better as you are in the comfort of your own home. You may even be more relaxed than if you had to travel to an office. Working with international clients I have been doing Zoom sessions even before the pandemic. And don’t worry if you are not familiar with Zoom I am here to guide you and we will be doing a test call before.
How will I feel when under hypnosis?

Some clients may come to a session feeling anxious about hypnosis or misinformed about what hypnosis is.

  • “Don’t expect to feel hypnotised.” Many people come thinking that there is something about hypnosis, which is markedly different from their “normal” state of consciousness. They may have seen a stage hypnotist and are basing their understanding on that. This is definitely not the case. A light trance / hypnotic state will likely feel no different from relaxation. In fact, they will be more aware in hypnosis. So don’t expect to feel hypnotised. It is a normal natural state. There is no right or wrong way to experience hypnosis. You don’t go anywhere and many people don’t realise they are in hypnosis until they come out of it.
  • “Do expect to feel relaxed.” Hypnosis is a natural state where you feel increasing levels of relaxation.
  • “You ARE in control.” Forget what you saw in movies. Nobody can control your mind except you. I won’t be able to make you do things if you don’t want to. You are always in control . While under hypnosis, you can hear my voice, you can talk, you can move your body exactly the same way as if you were meditating.
